Kaffe meets Jinny and friends.

Rail Fence Blocks from Cultural Fusion are finished - only had to re-sew one block as it was too big (switched machines- mistake) but all are together.  I was afraid the pinks and blue are too much but they look great.  The colors are more true in the finished quilt below.
This is the finished top, its scheduled to go to my quilter of choice Vinnie in NH on Saturday (9/5).
This is the backing and binding fabric - got it on sale at Quilted Threads - 50% off  as steal, its Kaffe 2013 collection and I love the colors with the quilt.

Bionic Gear Bags are a hit

in July I made two Bionic Gear Bags - pattern can be found on Craftsy - - they were a little fiddly, but are great bags.  There is a 3rd on my plate once I get the fabric from my BFF.  She wants one to bring to work as a daily carry bag.  I am thinking my Mom might want one too for storing all her writing and journaling supplies.

Making progress on my Kaffe meets Jinny plus friends

I have continued on with my Rail Fence blocks, I have completed sewing the curved pieces for all but the last two sets of strips.  I used my 4.5x18 ruler and cut my curves the way it described in the book this time and found it worked much better for me.

I am thinking that 30 blocks will be better than 25 so I may need to add 5 more sets to the quilt.  I am light on the blue/green/aqua side so I hope to add 5 fats of Kaffe Collective in that color range to the quilt.

I am loving making this quilt and have another quilt from the book (Cultural Fusion) on my radar.  I love the "Winter" pattern but plan to do it in prints vs. the solids used in the book.   I have so much fabric and really want to use some of it.

By the way, my setup at "sewing central" includes my Sew Ezi table (very happy customer) and a pressing surface my BFFs husband made us.  The cutting area is perfect for me, its about 40" and my back appreciates the tall surface.

Rail Fence from Cultural Fusion

Since last I posted I have taken a class with the wonderful Lynne Tyler at the Quilted Threads in Henniker NH.  We worked on a quilt from Cultural Fusion by Sujata Shah.  I love the quilts in this book and have at least one other on my list (Winter - pg 90).

Singer 301A arriving shortly plans include Drawn Together

this Singer 301A is on its way to me - UPS says it will arrive sometime tomorrow - I am hoping that tomorrow is in the AM as we leave for our camp mid-day and I really want this baby to go north with me... she still needs a name - but I need to see what year she was born first.  I feel like she needs some accessories too  - maybe a quarter inch foot to start.

I want to test the Drawn Together Paper Pieced Block

this is someone else's version.  I have the papers done to try my own variation, thinking the star will be poke-a-dots (black and white) or maybe just whatever I have.
this is what I came up with - will make more of these someday

Farm Window Table Runner - 6/6-6/14 - a success....

took a two week class at North Country Quilts in Plymouth NH, the paper pieced table runner was a Judy Niemeyer pattern that my friend Edela wanted to try.  I have my table runner top finished and am happy with the results.

Aunties Purple Patchwork 2014

History:  In 2014 I made the above quilt for my Aunt Sally.   It was pieced on my Singer Featherweight and machine quilted by a long-arm quilter in NH.  - - Hope she is enjoying it - we don't talk very often.   This blog is going to be dusted off and I will post images of projects I am working on.  Hope that I can be at more consistent blogger in the future.
